16 SANSKAR
Our certified priests are available to perform the following sixteen sanskars at your residence as well as at the Samaj.
Garbhaadhan - This sanskar is performed for the fulfillment of one's parental obligation and a continuation of the human race.
Punasavana - During the third or fourth month of pregnancy. The Punasavana sanskar is performed for the physical growth of the child.
Seemantonannyan - This sanskar is performed during the 6th or 8th month of pregnancy for the mental growth of the child.
Jaat—karma - This sanskar is done to welcome the new born child and father writes OM on the tongue of the child with honey.
Naam-karan - In this sanskar the child is given a name. This sanskar should be performed on the 11thday or 101th day or in the next year when the child completes one year.
Nishkaraman - Here the child is taken outside the home for the first time to be exposed to the different elements of nature.
Annaparaashan - Anna means ‘food’ and prashana mean ‘eating, feeding’ thus, giving solid food to the child for the very first time performs this sanskar.
Churra-Karan - This sanskar can be performed between the ages of 1-3 years old. In this sanskar the hair from the child’s head is shaved off for the very first time.
Karna-vedh - Ears of the child is pierced with the help of a golden needle for the protection of the child and to make the child wear jewellery in the ear.
Upanayan - This ritual is performed at home after Agnihotra. The primary function is wearing of athe sacred thread signifying the beginning of their pursuit of knowledge.
Ved-aarambh - The aim is to develop the child culturally from all points of view so that the child is ready to face all challenges of married life.
Samaavarttan - This sanskar is performed upon return of the child after completing his education.
Vivaah - This is the union between a male and a female for the purpose of campanionship, procreation and redemption.
Vaanprasth - At this stage, the person should start detaching from worldly affairs and start leading a life of Tapa ( penance) and Swaadhyaay self education).
Antyeshti - This is the last sanskar. After the soul leaves the body the body is cremated and all the five elements of mortal body ( Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Space) are merged to the appropriate place.
